My wife is looking for a new lappy, she's had a macbook for years so we'll explore macs as well, but I know from my PC building days that generally you can get a lot more bang for the buck with a windows.

What are some nicer/higher end windows laptops that would compare well quality wise to macbooks? She's wanting metal frame, smaller form factor, can close and open and "it goes right back to what you were doing" (so SSD im assuming), "good hinges that won't wear out", and she mentioned liking the magnetic power plug, but that's not as much of a deal breaker.

Any recommendations of a solid brands these days?
We're thinking around $1000

1. What is your budget? $1000

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 13-15"

3. What screen resolution do you want?
medium-high

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

5. How much battery life do you need?
comparable to macbooks

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop?
No

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Mostly work functions through browsers, possibly netflix watching

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
~500 SSD

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
Longer time, needs to be quality

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Wife is apple fan so she's wanting higher quality on the physical side as well as not having issues like "viruses" blue screens, bugs, etc

13. What country do you live in? US

Just get a MacBook? You can even get them on finance from Apple so you’re not even paying the 1000-1500 up front
