Someone help I've already tried reinstalling windows, I just built this PC, and I think I did something in bios, I've already tried restoring to optimized defaults but even that doesn't help? I'm getting a graphics card soon, a 1060, but in the mean time I feel very uncomfortable with this and want to know if theres a fix, or if its just an error and if I can continue playing.

Solution

If igpu means integrated graphics processing unit then you've never had 8GB VRAM. You most likely have 8GB of system RAM. If you don't have a dedicated GFX card such as a 1070 or a 1080 or a 480 or a 580 etc. you've never had 8GB of VRAM. Never. That is physically impossible. An IGPU is inside the CPU and so it doesn't have any onboard graphics RAM. It will...

yes I know, however, I just built this pc lol. I don't feel comfortable with games saying I now only have 128 mb when the first two days I had 8 gb (not my ram) you sure ill be fine, and is it okay If I go over the limit then?

It's fine if you go over the 128mb, you can continue to use the iGPU for gaming without issues.

An IGPU is inside the CPU and so it doesn't have any onboard graphics RAM. It will instead borrow from your system RAM. You shouldn't even have 128MB. This is why COMPLETE system specs are necessary. If someone needs a physical from their doctor they don't only send in their eyes(1060 handles visuals). There is more to the story than that 1060. That allows us to offer a more definitive answer.

Only dedicated or discrete GFX cards(different names, same meaning) have dedicated VRAM. The 1060... Another vague system spec.. The 1060 has 3GB or 6GB of VRAM.

You can perform a CMOS reset. A simple Google search can tell you how. That will return all settings to their default.

okay. thank you, is there a way to change it to 8gb though atleast? lol ill play games anyways though.

No, that's a benefit offered by dedicated GFX cards.
