Is there any way I can use my iMac, the new slim ones, as a second display for my Windows 8 laptop (which is originally a Macbook Pro, profile pic confirms) only from wifi? They are always connected to the same network etc.

Thanks.

You could try mimicking the AirPlay features in OS X. look at this article.. http://ipod.about.com/od/usingairportexpress/f/Airplay-For-Windows.htm

FYI throughput performance for a second display over wifi will not be very high performing, and with older routers, this may be unpleasantly slow or may impact overall network performance(might be ok for office work, definitely not for gaming, and video playback likely will be less then optimal as well.

I would suggest looking into Target Display Mode and see if that agrees with you, you should have no performance losses via this method.
