Image Quality

Instaled Windows XP, and Microsoft wasn't lying- it does give an image quality boost. My 3 year old Sony (ok, real expensive one at that- cost $1000 at the time) looks great now!

If it's working...overclock it!

What does XP do to improve the quality flame? Is this a driver issue, better implementation of colours, or what?

I'm not quite sure. What it did on mine is that the text and stuff were getting blurry b/c teh monitor is rather old. This made things sharp again, and no it isn't cause my eyesight got better.

lol, ClearType is a form of Anti-aliasing that improves the smoothness of the type.

Is that what it is? Doesn't AA make things more blurry though? On my comp, things are crisper.

ClearType is a very well designed anti-aliasing! It make the text smoother and rounder but not blurrier. I have WinXP too, so I would know. Try disabling ClearType and read text on your monitor again.

Actually, if I look closely enough at my monitor, I see the extra AA parts. Very smart of Microsoft.
