My wife recently bought a Wal-Mart puter Compaq Presario SR1303WM. Reason for this was to free up my gaming rig so I can play in more LAN parties and Grad Work. I did some mild upgrades added a dedicated inexpensive video card MSI/Nvidia 5200 128 meg. 256 megs of Crucial pc 3200 and a better cpu fan. It came stock with a AMD Sempron 3000+ 256 megs ram (hyperion) and a simple cdrw/dvd drive (lite on) and nothing much more to write home about except the Mobo. Here is the question. The MOBO it came with was an ASUS A7V8X-MX SE VIA KM400 Chipset. Would it be possible to upgrade using the ASUS bios from the website and get rid of the locked bios that Compaq supplied? The locked bios has alot of features missing that the Mobo has, using the original ASUS unlocked bios would open them up. Allowing for a few more inexpesnive upgrades.
