I have only $90 to get a gpu that can game on 720 or 1080p with low settings. I would like to get the gt 1030. My igpu is the intel hd 610 and i have seen the gt 1030 only gets around an extra 40fps. Would it still be better to get this (i don't want to go into the used market yet as this is my first pc build and i'd like the luxury of a warranty). My igpu has started artifacting which is why i need it.

Ah, I thought you might have something like a Pentium G4560, which also has HD 610 graphics, but is faster and has hyperthreading.

Personally, I would probably pass on a GTX 1050 right now. As I said, the prices are currently very high for graphics cards. When the GTX 1050 launched, they could be found for around $120, but shortages have caused the prices of mid to high-end cards to rise quite a bit, especially in recent weeks.

As you said, your Celeron processor will likely limit performance in many newer games anyway. With a 1050, you would likely see somewhat higher performance in games that are less demanding on the CPU, but probably not enough to justify spending nearly double the price on one. It's probably better to just go...
i don't play SUPER intensive games, heres a list. -Crysis -Rocket League -Project cars -ACII -BeamNG -F1 2014 -Half life 2/Portal 2 -Insurgency -Just cause 2 -Left4dead2 -Tomb raider(2013)

Might get games: Doom 2016 Dirt rally CSGO borderlands 2 Steep

An extra 40fps compared to what, 20fps? : D While a GT 1030 is a low-end card, it should still be far faster than Intel's integrated graphics, with multiple times the performance, and would undoubtedly make your gaming experience much smoother.

The cards that are the next level up are priced much higher right now due to a shortage, otherwise I would recommend stretching your budget a bit for a more mid-range offering like a GTX 1050. Those are all currently priced significantly higher though, unless you can find one locally at a good price.

The reason i was thinking about this gpu was as my cpu would bottlenck is. My cpu is the celeron g3930. So do you think it is actually worth it as i can't stretch my budget any more.

I don't think i could but if i got the gtx 1050 (which is cheapest around $159/169), how much of a bottleneck would there be. Would the bottleneck make the performance closer to the gt 1030 or would it still be better despite the bottleneck

Thx for that, i'll probably go get a gt 1030 this weekend then.
Thanks for the input and help.
Do you have any suggestions for what brand or should i just get any?

By the way, i was going to get the g4560 but my mum is the type that doesn't like using online stores. Meaning i was limited to walk ins. Sadly they didn't have any in stock and said they weren't going to get any more in 🙁

I have no idea on brands for GT 1030s.

The card doesn't draw a lot of power, so some 1030s will be passive (no fan), typically with a larger heat sink, while others will have a (usually tiny) fan, with a smaller heat sink. Either option will likely be able to cool the card reasonably well, since they only draw a little over 30 watts under load. Most are also low-profile (narrow) cards, which allows them to fit in small form-factor cases.

Even if you buy locally, it might be worth looking up user reviews and product details on a site like Amazon though, to get an idea of any differences between the cards.
