impossible cpu temperatures

Hi all,

I recently installed a corsair h60 on my stock 8350 and since then my cpu temps in HWmonitor, coretemp etc.. have gone wonky.

i get readings in the range of 11-13c, regardless of load. sometimes when i start the monitoring program the temps will jump up to around 19cc and then fall to 11-13 and stay there. obviously this is impossible when it is 30c outside.

everything seems to be running fine, but i don't like not knowing what my temps are and i'm wondering what could have caused this/ how to fix it? could a misplaced waterblock cause such numbers? is it possible i damaged the sensors?

I merely stated what my monitoring software was telling me. I then stated that when I get a monitoring screen I will post the real results. God, don't you people read?

Okay Hailz. I would listen to iHog and 8350Rocks.
You can know a couple of things for a fact.
1. You can not cool a system below ambient temps using a stock cpu cooler or a regular water cooler.
2. AMD cpu temp sensors have a negative offset and that makes them report wrong(way lower) temps.

Now, the negative offset is a term more popular with developers who write programs like coretemp, speedfan etc. Maybe these programs are not well calibrated for AMD cpus or maybe AMD works with a bad batch of temp sensors no one knows that bit exactly but I am absolutely sure that these cpus report below ambient temps.

My room mate's 8120 reports 21-23 C on all cores (AMD cpus have a single diode reading out average temperature across all cores) on a stock cooler with the ambient temps in the range of 35+ Centigrade.

The only thing I find odd is that your temps are not jumping with stress loading which should ideally happen. perform a Prime95 run and let us know whether your temps spike up or not.

hmm i'm just a little confused because when i had the stock cooler on it the temps were always showing what seemed to be the real temps (they were above the ambient temperature anyway).

i'll do some tests and see, but when playing games the temps don't really fluctuate.

also here's a SS i just took.

two of the three temps are clearly wrong at 7C... but the third is higher than ambient temperature (22C) at 25C while browsing the internet. Could it be that that is the actual temperature? It doesn't seem to climb much when under load though.
