Ok i started looking at 1660 and then 2060. neither can be found anywhere in stock.

What is annoying is that many list cards but you only find out not in stock after a few clicks.

Does anyone have awareness of decent sites for a 1660 super under £280 or 2060 under £350? Which is already above average.

Thank you

Then scalpers are hitting Amazon and newegg etc, pre-ordering huge quantities through multiple accounts (kids, grandma, wife, buddy etc), so there's relatively little stock actually dedicated to retail sales. You've got weeks of wait and seconds to buy to get their price. But it's not hard to find a $399 3060ti for $599 from AcmeScalper.com, shipped from Japan at additional shipping fee.

UGH. It's still despicable to see others buying those jacked up gpus - at the same time, I can't blame the folks selling them for doing it.
WTCrap, 850USD for a 3060Ti? Plus they sold 4 of them?
I signed up for EVGA's 3080 queue, and the 2 cards(XC3 Ultra Hybrid & FTW3 Ultra Hybrid) I signed up for are...

if such a price did exist, it would not be in stock :(

it's not gonna get any better any time soon sadly. you either have to wait it out or pay the sky high prices.

even used stuff is stupid expensive since everyone knows nothing is in stock and people are getting desperate.

Covid.

Covid has put up shipping restrictions, gpus are not considered a priority, medical supplies etc take precedence. So many gpus only get moved out of customs docks when there is room on the boat (only high priority shipping gets moved by air) to stick a container. That creates a backlog surplus on the docks, and very little actual supply.

(4 sold, 1 left, could it be the 5 item newegg/amazon pre-order limit?)

3080, cheaper than a scalped 3060Ti, but I just have to wait a little. Geezus, some people...:pfff:

@AlterEg00
You may just have to wait some more, sadly...

Personally I'd do as Phaaze88 did, go directly through Evga store. I bought my psu directly from Corsair store, not only cheaper, but they now have records of sale and I don't have to go through 3rd party if there's an issue.

That way you will get a great gpu, at a good price, no a jacked up scalpers wants.

Thank you all for advice.

I know some are on second hand but those are also inflated and for those prices i would rather play safe and have 3 years warranty.

Ive spent untold hours looking at multiple sites for something i wont feel duped if i bought it. i wont feed someones greed so wont buy inflated prices.

I guess i was hoping that the gurus here has intel on some sites of whole sale sellers that might be of use so my son doe snot have to wait months more for his xmas present.

i know the nvidea cards well but have not really looked at AMD cards. i suppose i might have to start doing some research for a equal to a GTX 1660 super- RTX 2060.

Ive never considered going direct to manufacture. i have been on nvidea website. do you have to contact them and make a pre-order for such like EVGA? or is their a simple online form to use?

But i thank you all for your help and comments.

would ordering from a German supplier be ok? I am unsure if GPU come chipped to be used within certain global region. like some other products. i am assuming all ok but just checking.

If i buy those from EVGA, same question really, i can order one but is their going to be any problem using one made for the USA market? power requirements/voltage etc?

thanks

Order from a manufacturer that's actually near you - or at least in the same country, because if you have to ship a card overseas, you are going to get slammed hard on shipping costs.
If you go to EVGA's site, do you get a message similar to the following:
Special Online Store Notice:

Please note, you are on the EVGA.com US Online Store. International Orders (with exception of Canada) are not accepted.
Asus is a bad idea right now, since they recently raised their prices.

Thank you for your reply. After registering i do not see that. i am in the UK using https://www.evga.com site.

what i see is this wording

SPECIAL EVGA 30 SERIES UPDATE NOTICE:
Due to ongoing events, EVGA has made price adjustments on the GeForce RTX 30 Series products. This change was necessary due to several factors and will be effective January 11, 2021. EVGA has worked to reduce and minimize these costs as much as possible. For those who are currently in the EVGA.com Notify Queue system or Step-Up Queue, EVGA will honor the original MSRP pricing through April 16th, 2021 if your purchase position is processed before this date.
SPECIAL EVGA 30 SERIES ORDERS NOTICE:
We have made some changes to the checkout process for EVGA.com 30 Series orders. Now we are using a queue based notification system.

i have an option to buy a 1660 super phoenix. the single fan one. i thought to stay away from mini GPu. but looking at the specs they do not seem to be that different. should i avoid the minis and continue to look for a twin fan?

as a 125w card, a single fan is not that bad. it's the high power ones that truly need the cooling.

my 1650 super is a mini model with one fan and at about 100w used it stays plenty cool.
Thank you.

As i am no guru these days when it comes to GPU i had though the performance would be less than that of other cards. because if they can get them that small and use less components for same outcome. why build larger?
thanks

there is a tradeoff for sure. they are usually a bit hotter and that single fan has to spin faster so it can make more noise. sometimes they are clocked a bit slower to make use less power, so yah there are usually tradeoffs. but these are with stronger cards that are single fan.

but for a low power card, the 2/3 fan super coolers are overkill. it does keep them cooler for sure, but they don't get real hot anyway so not having it is not a big deal.

i can turn my mini card to 100% fan and not hear it. with the default fan curve i have yet to hear it in the case under any use. as noted it runs pretty cool while playing a game. nothing to be worried about really. don't think i have seen it hit 70c while torture testing it. much less in game.

if you are one of those who will watch it non-stop and then search non-stop to find someone else with lower temps, then you'll never be happy. but if you install it, test it once and then enjoy the card, you won't remember you only have 1 fan.

Thank you for this.

It wont be on show and will go in my kids PC so they can play fortnight. my own rig is a ryzen 9 3900 with a 2060 super. they are using my older PC and i promised my son i would get him a card for it xmas time. but its been difficult getting what we want. his PC is a large tower and with no viewing glass, its a load pc anyway so noise wont be an issue.

thank you again

HI All i have an update that some might like to know.

The card I originally bought from Scan seemed to have not received the cards. they are still waiting for receipt of the ones they indicated were going to be available.

However its not all bad news. The company i bought my new rig last year (Ryzen 9 3900x, RTX 2060 super), has over 190 x GTX 1660 supers in stock. hundreds more of other cards.

Decent price also £222 so they didnt inflate the price either also 48 hour delivery! smashing.

The company that has cards in stock of all sorts is https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

So if anyone is still looking for a GPU, give them ago. They are a mainly a company that builds customs pc based on what you want. you will have to contact them using online form to query what GPU you want.

Good luck
