In a GTX460 768Mb the 2600k CPU really help raising FPS?

I recently was asking for a good card better than the GTX460 768Mb version for an upgrade, but everybody say me that i need was a CPU upgrade because i had a Phenom X4 9750 @ 2.4Ghz 4Gb DDR2 800Mhz and an ECS mobo.

Well i get an intel core i7 2600k and 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz and an Asus P67 board, guess what? all the games i play are the same FPS lol, no change, the overall use in the PC are admirable, intel knows what hes doing, but in games there are no change anyway.

I think that i was need is a GTX560 Ti at least and a SSD, the things are done and i don't regreat that CPU are a BEAST, non aplication can freeze him , my games are, Crysis 1 and 2, MW the 3 games, BF 2 and 3, WOW, and the only who i notice a decent FPS raise was in WOW but that game always ran smooth in my other PC so i wont concern much about that, is not a good graphic game anyway, i need to do something more? OC my VGA or the CPU before i can raise the FPS?

Definately get the 560ti you wanted in the first place , you will see a good jump in performance especially now that you have a great cpu to push it.
You could even go higher depending on your budget and get a 570

My budget was killed by the CPU, mobo and memory, but i can sell my old PC in 350 dollars with the GTX 460, and save some money to get the GTX 570 maybe i got the buyer already but i dont have the extra cash, all i want to play is the crysis game with 8x or the metro dx11 all max, i know there are no much visual changes but, just ask this: why the man wants to get to the moon if in the earth has everything? dont ask to me, i just want more power to.

Nothing wrong with wanting more , I got 560ti SLI and its still not enough for me, I know how you feel.
Sell all the other parts and go for the 570 or a 580 if you want to max out everything

The great thing about building PCs is that the any decent parts sell for a ton on ebay! Yeah also reinstall windows and make sure you do stuff in order, I believe its chipset driver, sound driver, video card driver, then windows updates. In fact something curious happend when you put an already installed OS (Win7 64 ultimate) on a board with the news BIOS, im not engineer or something like that, but always send BSOD in the windows load page, i try to move the ram in diferent slots set manual the timings, check the bends on the board, run safe mode, install other HDD with other OS installed (XP, Vista, Win7 32), every single HDD do the same, i check everything and the only solution for me was reinstall OS, only then works fine, a friend of my happend the same thing, i dont know if the BIOS or the socket or some new instruction in the CPU was the trouble, but yes i made a clean reinstall win7 64 ultimate

The good thing is for the moment i just have a 1680 x 1050 monitor i think the 570 will kill every game in that resolution (speaking of wanting more with that crap monitor, lol )

Even so, a 2500k is $100 less than the 2600k and has the same performance in games.

But yeah, you definitely had more room for more GPU power before needing a CPU upgrade, except that a 2.4ghz clock is definitely pretty low these days. It would have handicapped Skyrim, anyway.

A new monitor would definately compliment your new system for gaming, I also am curious as to who told you to do it. Anyway doesn't matter know , you will have an excellent gaming pc that will play anything maxxed out

i heard that in another forum, i don't know if i can put which forum, but you're right no need CPU upgrade in at least 2 years i think, like i say before i don't regreat at all, i just feel like i have a ferrari runing at 40 M/h

One thing to keep in mind is that the The 460 768 is a really good at overclocking. Using MSI afterburner, I had mine running at 900 mhz for the gpu and 2145 mhz for the ram. Even with the OC the highest the card hit was 70 C. The overclock ended up giving me around a 25-30% boost in Crysis 2 and Dirt 3 when doing benchmarks. At that speed you are pretty much at the level of a Geforce 560 gtx.

My 460 is a MSI cyclone and i do OC to 900Mhz to but it was not stable OC, i just be able to do 850Mhz and i dont notice a FPS raise so i leave stock speeds, in my PC crysis 2 run well, better than the crysis 1, i dont know what have that game but is a graphic card eater

Have you tried to up the voltage when overclocking? I was only able to get to 840 on stock voltage but when I maxed it out I could get to 900. The memory overclock also makes a big difference as the card only has 192-bit memory (almost as much as gpu). I have heard that that is more risky though...

yes i raise voltaje to the max 1.087 if i remember well right now im in the office so i can tell you but i think it was the max voltaje, i think like i now have m a more big CPU i gonna try OC the VGA again, maybe my old CPU was bootleneck last time thats why i dont see FPS raise last time and tell if this helpd me, i gonna try 900 again, can you giveme some help on the speeds of the mem and the core, and the voltaje?

Every card is going to be a bit different so the settings I used might not work for you. I had mine stable at 1.087 voltage with 900 for the core and 2145 for the memory. I tried pushing it higher but I got artifacts by raising either setting.

i will try OC again, and i can play almost all at max, just crysis 1, 2 and metro 2033 crush my system, before i install the crysis 2 update it will run very well but after the game become more heavy with the DX11 feature and the high res, etc.
