In HP Pavillion laptop (model ZE5185): How can you speed up slow USB 1.0 ports; to get USB 2.0 speed?

you cannot change the built in usb ports. however if that laptop has a
pcmcia slot you can buy a pc card to plug in that gives the usb 2 ports and
even firewire ports if desired, orangemicro makes on which i use on a old
presario 1200.

But, as Oldcrusty said, do you have an available slot? If not, no use buying
the card because there will be no place to put it.
