My stepson and I are trying to build a pc to use with the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simm. His out of state Grandmother sent him the following items from Best Buy and returning is not an option. I have been trying to fit the XFX AMD Radeon RX 590 into the HP ENVY Desktop. I quickly realized the power supply needed to be upgraded and have the EVGA 600W ATX. I am able to get the video card seated in the motherboard however I am stuck on how to connect everything. I did some searching and thought I needed the 24 pin to 6 pin connector (I bought this on Ebay). I am still not able to make the connections needed. Has anyone done this (i did try searching on here), or is this not an option to add the video card to this pc? Money is tight as his mother is off work due to the pandemic. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

The board that's in that chassis is a proprietary motherboard; so that leads me to ask what connectors you've used to plug up to the motherboard.

In short, you shouldn't have tinkered around with a prebuilt, rather should've worked on a used platform or a new platform from he ground up.

Here is the link to the motherboard https://support.hp.com/lt-en/product/hp-envy-te01-0000-desktop-pc-series/29014358/document/c06432435

Unfortunately, I did not have the option of a different setup. My hope was that I could get the XFX AMD video card to work with this proprietary motherboard and upgraded power supply. Other than the connections that came with the new power supply and the 24 pin to 6 pin connector I purchased, that is about all I have.

The motherboard in the link won't work with the adapter you bought. Look at the motherboard and the power connections, you have two 4 pin connections and some smaller custom one from HP. If they make adapters for a standard power supply for it, you need to find the ones specifically made for your model.

What you can do is remove everything form the case, buy a standard motherboard and case and move the CPU, RAM and drive into the new setup along with the power supply you got and the video card. The CPU is fast enough for gaming, but it's inside a case with a weak power supply and non-standard motherboard.

You will need to do a clean Windows setup when swapping motherboards to prevent any issues with booting or possible slowness. It may work with just plugging it in but the best thing is a clean seutp.

This case is nice, shroud for the PSU and comes with two fans, just plug in your stuff
