The Sims 2 is awesome. Good to see its prominenceTheme park I have played on my 486.Simcity 3 is good. Arguably SC4 is better despite the bugsMSFS had a ton of versions and I am sure the combined numbers are quite high

And they say piracy is killing the computer industry. By those sales numbers, you'd believe otherwise. People are smart enough to buy a game when it's good instead of wasting money on buggy or complete messes of games that use piracy for their excuse for a lack of sales.
Sadly they put DRM that screws it up though

Simcity 3000 was best Simcity ever!

Someone's just given me a 1992 X-Wing box for DOS; trying to work out if I haveanything old enough to run it...Ian.
That's really cool! This and Tie Fighter were both great games. Did you happen to get the CD or floppy version? You know it's funny, most people worry about the opposite "Is my PC new enough to play the new 'XYZ' game coming out?"If nothing else, you might try running it in Dosbox.

I'm a relatively late gamer(PC only) and not to include any Call of Duty games or the Grand Theft Auto, GranTurismo or some other car video games is atrocious.

Was a little disappointing to not see any of the Star Wars/Freespace Flight sims here, but at least it had a few redeeming titles (I'm looking at you Doom 3)

I received the floppy version, but not a problem, I have numerous floppy drives, and a 4.7GHz P55 system
to which I can connect a floppy, so I'll probably use that. Thanks to all who mentioned DOSBox!! 8)

Ian.

Ah yes, fond memories of Descent, though I played Descent on some other
platform I think.

Never quite took to Quake; and wrt Doom3, I prefer the original Doom, which
dominated my existence for a while in more ways than one... :)

Populous is really very well designed and paced, damn fun and addictive. I remember my group in uni were working through the night trying to complete a project report, and one of us started playing it in as a mild distraction and then we got mad with him because he wouldn't stop playing. Then we took turns playing and that was when I realized I was getting addicted within just the first few minutes.

This list, which is based on sales numbers, just goes to show you that "popular" doesn't always mean good (see: Angry Birds and that stupid mindless candy game). So many outstanding games not on the list. Several have mentioned great games that weren't referenced (Quake, Decent, etc.). Another is System Shock.

Anyone else notice that the Doom 3 screenshot was from the Classic Doom Mod? Epic fail. There are lots of games missing but I have to admit most of the list is decent. On the other hand I started playing Descent, Freespace, and XCOM again recently.

Everquest is still kicking, and will probably outlive most. Come check out the new Lvl 85 heroic character option. Start at 85, appropriate gear, all spells, all skills, and all the AAs up to the Underfoot Expac. Many aspects have been altered to ease players' returning and getting back into it. =)
