I have looked all over, read through forum thread after forum thread and i cannot fix my problem.
When i try to start Windows i get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
-i CANNOT boot in safe mode. I have tried
-Restore points cannot be found
-I am unable to get a reset
-using Rufus, i have made a USB drive but no repairs can be made.
-i have played with boot order after boot order. I cannot get anything other than the USB and windows repair to start.
-Diskpart wont do anything with MBR drives (whatever that means)
-chkdsk /f wont work because of write protection
-chkdsk /f of drive C: scans but comes up with nothing other than a failed log transfer
-Bootrec cannot find windows
-There is a new X: drive that has been created. It seems like windows is trying to boot using this new X drive, but then cannot find the OS which is on my C drive
-My C drive is a SSD. i have unplugged all other drives, internal and external, this helped none
- i have read about setting up BIOS to make sure AHCI is set on my SSD, but i cannot find an option for that anywhere.
The above were solutions i found on the internet, i am not that computer savvy.
If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE, let me know. School is starting up soon and i need my PC badly.
This is an Alienware Area 51 (so it has its own fancy looking BIOS)
running Windows 10 on a solid-state drive.
i accidently defragged the drive, i think that is what caused this.
before i restarted, explorer was acting funny (wouldnt show thumbnails, open pictures, crashes)
and now i cant start windows.
Seems to me like i need to stop my computer from booting from this new X drive some how.
I have also posted in the tenforums, i got a little help, but then it kind of dead end'd
http://www.tenforums.com/general-support/58614-inaccessible_boot_device-windows-10-a.html
Thanks in advance.
BCDEDIT /ENUM shows two boot managers. The second one looks correct. The first one must be drive x: or something
UPDATE: Now i am getting an error code 0x0000001. in addition the original error. hopefully this is going in the right direction
i am unable to even reinstall windows, so any input would be awesome. anything at all.
