Question Incompatible M.2 SSD?

Hello guys, yesterday I bought an SSD Samsung 980 1TB PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280 for my laptop an Asus F542UN - i7-8550U, becose I saw that the laptop has a free M.2 port .
Now the problem is that after inserting it in the port and starting the laptop it doesn't seem to want to be picked up by it to be shown anywhere.
I tried updating the BIOS, checking the setup inside the BIOS for the M.2, disk management, device manager.
Could you please help me out ?

The M.2 socket in your laptop supports SATA SSD's but not NVMe.

Not positive, but I think that is just a M.2 Sata port, not a NVMe type.

You might want to try a sata m.2.
