Inconsistent Internet Speeds

My internet has around a 30 download and 10 upload usually but very often (especially when gaming) it just dips and almost stops working. I lag out of my games and its very annoying. Even on my xbox its very inconsistent. Is there a fix to this?

I have been getting packet loss but I don’t know if there are any errors. Could it perhaps be I need another router?

Packet loss/CRC errors can cause what you described. If it also happens on other devices, then it's probably upstream, meaning it can be your set-up on the Gateway or Modem+Router. Try to sign in on the Modem/Gateway and check if it shows any errors. Try 192.168.1.1 or just check the sticker on the box for an IP, which will then ask for a sign in (also on the sticker).
