incorrect cpu temp readings

bios shows cpu temp idle at 50 c but hw monitor says its idling at 22c. who do i believe?

970 extreme 3

BIOS can have some weird idle temperatures, so I would go with HWMonitor.

More important, though, is your CPU when at load. Get Prime95, and run some stress tests. Be sure that you're look at the Core Temperature readings.

yeah when i play games and such it dosent really go over 62c on hwmonitor. i think your right my bios is probably giving weird readings.
