Hi,
I just installed a R9 280x graphics card however the computer and AMD control centre are both showing it as an HD4290 card. Is there some connection to past drivers. When i try to upload drivers for the R9 it's offering me updates for a Hd4290.

Many thanks,

thanks for the replies.
I've never been aware of an integrated GPU. There's always been a fitted one. I didn't have this issue when I replaced the original unit.
Will try the suggestion.

Many thanks,

So,
I uninstalled the HD4290 drivers in safe mode and did a driver cleanup as recommended in a different post.
The reinstalled the R9.
Checked the bios integrated peripherals. There's nothing like an IGU in there or anything that looks like it.
Checked the power supply. Both cables appear to be fitted correctly
Tried various AMD Catalyst versions but every time it detects a HD4290.
(I can't find any way to only install specific drivers for the card, is it possible to avoid Catalyst?)
I've reinstalled my HD7850 without problems in between.
Is there a possibility that a damaged card might show up as the lesser?
Other than that I'm out of ideas,

Any further thoughts appreciated,

Apologies. After going back to look at the motherboard details I can see it does have an integrated 4920:

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AMD 890 Chipset DDR3 ATX w/ Integrated ATI Radeon 4920, 7.1 HD

There's nothing in the bios to indicate how to set preferences on this.
I removed the drivers for this in Device manager but this has not had a positive effect on identification of the new card.
Whenever I run Catalyst it still detects the 4920 rather than the new card.

The cable that connects the pc to the monitor must go into the graphics card and not the mother board. Please confirm this.

Hi,
Yes I've been using the card slot.
Since I found out how to disable the IGX in BIOS and connecting the monitor to the card directly on start up the motherboard is not giving a single beep but a succession of beeps and that's it.
I replaced the card with my old one and everything works which makes me think there is an issue with the card?

I am going to try the new card on a different machine next.

Again, thanks for all the responses. I have tried each of the suggestions.
