Greetings,

Before I begin here are my relevant to this post system specs : Asus P4P800 (Rev 1.2 or 1.02, BIOS 1020, never OC, all default settings, no PAT and no memory accel), 2X 512 Samsung DDR (K4H560838E-TCCC). All memory in this post is DDR3200 at 400 Mhz.

I had the following memory for the past year Infineon 2X512 (HYB25D256800BT-5). Two days a go I started having this error : Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 f26397a4, parameter4 00000000. After some research I concluded that this was a memory issue. The default timings on this memory (Infineon) were 3.0-3-3.8(DDR400) They seemed reasonable to me. The error become quite annoying and after receiving 231 errors with memtest86 I went back to the supplier to get an exchange. The replacement was Samsung DDR (K4H560838E-TCCC), however the default timing for this RAM are 2.5-3-3-8(DDR400) To me this seem fast as it is not registered or in a kit. I am not an expert and maybe they are not, however the fact is Samsung and any other manufacturer that uses this chips, including Kingston do not use those latencies, they use 3.0-3-3-8(DDR400). My question is will my ram crap out again? Should I manually change the latencies? The memory is running in Dual Channel mode and memtest86 reported no errors PAT ON and OFF. I am worried about the reliability of the ram as I will not get another replacement.

Thank you very much !

no worry, if your memory can run at faster timing without raising its voltage, you'll be fine
here is what I would do, try turning up the timing slowly, and run test each time i raised some value
my PC2700 from Crucial, runs be default at 2.5/3/3/6, but I run it at 2/2/2/5 with no problems at all..
but that's with 2.6V however, because my motherboard doesn't offer a lower value for RAM
