The WD Red is more for stability vs pure speed.I recently bought a WD30EFRX, I'm not familiar with WD drives but I've read good things about their drives in general. What should I expect from this model? Is it good and reliable? I will use it in my PC that is kept on 24/7 and I very rarely reboot it.

I have like 5TB of data or something like that. I'd say about 300GB of that is really important, I don't really add anything to these folders, they are basically untouched for 10+ years. Would a good SSD such as the MX500 or the 860 a good way to store that type of data? The WD Red is more for stability vs pure speed.
It will be just fine.
How long will it last? Right up until the moment it dies.
Be proactive with your backups, and a physical drive fail is of no consequence.
What is your backup situation at home?
What is your backup situation at home? And if you don't do that, why not? Every single day, I read multiple threads here of "How do I get my stuff back?" or "That drive had 5 years of photos of my kids!!" Is there a software that can backup folders instead of whole drives? For example, I want to backup my documents folder and every time I add something to it on the D: drive, it mirrors to other drives. Is that a possibility? Not really.
That is mostly a waste of a high speed drive.
And I wouldn't trust any single physical drive to last untouched for a decade. No matter what type drive.
FreeFileSync. it also has a RealTimeSync function. Is there a software that can backup folders instead of whole drives? For example, I want to backup my documents folder and every time I add something to it on the D: drive, it mirrors to other drives. Is that a possibility?
