Question Ink smudged on photographic paper on HP Smart Tank 515 printer

I got this printer yesterday and one of the features was the ability to print on glossy photographic paper. I tried this today, making sure the paper was the right size and that this was selected while sending a picture to print, and the ink virtually did not stick to the paper. I'm thinking that my paper is probably for laser printers, and not inkjet. My concern is whether I could have damaged anything, or stained printheads. I opened up the front door of the printer and saw that what seems like a soft white piece of felt (which the paper does not touch) was stained a bit. Will this cause any issues? Thanks!

Did you load the photo paper so it's glossy side (print-side) was face up?
