Question Input lag caused by slow gpu?

Currently using a Ryzen 5 1600x as my cpu and a HD7970/R9 280X as my gpu.

The 1600x is new and I am wondering whether the input lag I am getting is caused by the fact that my gpu is too slow for my cpu?
The game I am lagging on is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

Please advise
