Question Input lag fixed when in safe mode?

Hello! I have been dealing with fluctuating input lag in and out of games for the past few months, and I recently realized that when I put my pc into safe mode, the issue seems to resolve itself. Is there anyway I can run my game through safe mode or even pinpoint what the issue is with this information?

could be anything. malware scan the system?
full system spec? include brand and model of the psu
Well I have reinstalled windows a couple times. I do not think it could be malware.

INFO: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s) however I did overclock it to 4.2 GHz. While checking the speed on task manager, I noticed that it was fluctuating between 4.1 and 4.2 GHz. The VID is 1.16-1.18V. The Idle cpu temps are ~30C. Under load the CPU temps are ~40-50C, sometimes spiking at 55C.

Motherboard: MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON AC (MS-7B45)
Bios: American Megatrends Inc. A.B0, 6/5/2020
RAM: 2 8gb sticks of Corsair Vengeance CMK8GX4M1A2400C14 DDR4 with a base speed of 2400MHz. I have one stick that is version 4.32 which I bought back in 2017, and another stick that is version 5.30 which I bought in 2019 or 2020. Currently my task manager says that it is running at 2133MHz.

OS: Windows 10 Home version 20H2 OS Build: 19042.1081
GPU: MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Driver installed: NVIDIA 30.0.14.7111 PSU: EVGA Supernova 750 g2 80+ gold bought in 2017 so about 4 years old.

Monitors: LG 27GN7 240hz 1ms connected by DisplayPort. Adaptive-synce and DAS mode is on. HDR is off. The display is set to 240hz with G sync off.

Games: I have noticed the input lag in both Valorant and Kovaaks. My mouse feels heavy and slow. In Valorant specifically, I have noticed that when I start my session, there is not a lot of input lag, but as time goes on there is input lag.

I am curious as to what is making the drivers automatically install.

In hardware reserved it shows 57.7mb. I have attached an image as well if needed: View: https://imgur.com/a/rBY2tN3

If it helps, I ran the Firststrike 3dmark benchmark, and here is the link to that: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/63739891

I also ran hwinfo64 and took screenshots of the sensors after I ran the benchmark. (Hwinfo was ran during the benchmark): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19b_N_uW7OomlaliAvfBlGIWWb1dOBp9N?usp=sharing

main differences between safe mode and normal are drivers, and safe mode is less stressing on hardware than normal is

Can you download and run Driverview - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

All it does is looks at drivers installed; it won't install any (this is intentional as 3rd party driver updaters often get it wrong)

When you run it, go into view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, will make list shorter.

Now its up to you, you can look through the drivers and try to find old drivers, or you can take a screenshot from (and including)Driver name to (and including)Creation date.

upload it to an image sharing website and show link here

I just see what might be cause but its not scientific in any stretch of imagination.

today I uninstalled my gpu driver and it was automatically reinstalled and I think it was a different version. Could this be the issue?

How did you uninstall them? like this? https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq...n-install-of-your-video-card-drivers.2402269/

input lag can be caused by gpu drivers, if it automatically installed again its likely to be older drivers. they normally pretty stable but could try updating from Nvidia

I found out that windows automatically looks for the drivers and installs them. I currently have them on version 30.0.14.7111 which I believe is the latest version. I disabled my ethernet and then booted into safe mode. Then I ran DDU to clean up the old driver then restarted. Still in safe mode I already had the driver installation in my downloads folder which I ran then booted into regular windows.

Here is the image of my drivers: View: https://imgur.com/a/9TE25Sc
