So, I recently got this computer from a friend that said they couldn't get it running. I get it together and it's running great, but I noticed that I can't update to Windows 11 due to the bios needing updates to use tpm2.0 (later found out my CPU isn't good enough either) so I updated it, PC restarts and runs fine.

Untill I try to play any game in full screen, then the PC stops, lets me know that the resolution is out of range and to change it to the proper one. Except it is already set to the proper res and hz.

It's asking for 1600x900/60hz and my GPU, display adapter settings, and the games settings read 1600x900/60hz, so idk I'm very lost ATM with zero answer so far from reddit or discord all day.

Any ideas or ways to fix?

I've checked the cable between the PC and monitor, and checked the cables in the case for the GPU and found no issues there, I've reinstalled the GPU drivers 3 times now with no change, and of course multiple restarts.

Only thing I haven't tried is a full reinstallation of w10 but I'm doubting that will even solve anything.

Edit
Only thing that's changed is the bios, and I ripped out some burned out LEDs from inside the case.

Motherboard: Asus 170-pro bios version 3805

CPU: Intel Core i5-6402p 2.80GHz

GPU: Nvidia GTX 960 4gb

RAM: 32gb of 3x PNY 8gb sticks (1066MHz) and 1x A-Data 8gb sticks (1200MHz)

Monitor I'm using is a dell E2014H 1600x900 monitor that supports up to 60Hz.

try using one stick thn see if u get a boot screen
It full boots, n I can use it normally, browse Amazon or use yourube. I just cant play any games on it.

It ran games fine last night but I updated the bios and pulled some burnt out LEDS from the case since then. I doubt the leds had any kind of control over the input

Does your bios give you voltage ranges? If so, what are they? Any of them in the red? What are the complete system specs?
From what I've seen my voltages were ok, or at the very least I didn't see anything red in all the blue lol. I'll have to check to be sure though.

Aside from these I've got a 2tb hard drive, and a USB hub.

I'm thinking the removal of the LEDs if there nothing to do with the motherboard itself should be fine. Meaning PC case related.

Being as you updated the BIOS maybe unplug from the wall , hold down the power button for 20 seconds than remove the motherboard battery for 10 minutes than reinstall.

You will need to reset time and date and set BIOS how you need things set up.

And last but not least do DDU and remove the GPU driver and even if you reinstall same driver it will be fresh.

Also have you just tested with a different monitor to see if you get this out of range issue.
