Insert a drive letter to external hard drive

HAVING READ ALL YOUR OTHER SUBMISSIONS, NONE WORKED, FOR ME

AFTER CONNECTING 1TB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE TO MY MSI GX720 LAPTOP, GOING TO MY COMPUTER, THE DRIVE IS NOT SHOWN...YET WHEN I GO TO COMPUTER AGAIN AND RIGHT CLICK ....MANAGE.....THEN DEVICE MANAGER.............THEN GO TO CENTER PANE .....CLICK ON DISK DRIVES THIS SHOWS ALL THE DISK BEING PRESENT INCLUDING MY 1TB ,....................

I NEED THE VOLUME LETTER SO I CAN TRY TO GET THE OLD PHOTOS AND DOCUMENTS OFF...

Hi Bert,

You need to open Disk Management, not Device Manager to add a letter to your drive. In disk manager you will be able to see the drive you want to add a letter to, right click that drive and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths." To assign a drive letter, click Add, click the drive letter you want to use, and then click OK.
