instaling single stick of ram

i installed 1 stick of Kingston ddr3 8gb
on a msi g46-970a board wanted to know if it matters witch slot i put it in since i am only using 1 slot
there are 4 slots 2 white and 2 blue.

Shouldn't matter, you are only using a single RAM stick. Best thing to do is consult your motherboard manual.
