install hdd in laptop

hey everyone, so I have a Lenovo y520 laptop, and I wanted to upgrade the storage. I currently have a 256g ssd but no hdd, but I can add one. I was wondering what do I need to do after I actually install the hdd. do I need to re install windows or is it just plug and play? I have my hdd picked out and have the bracket for the install as well, just need t understand what comes after it is in the computer. thanks for your input!

You install the HDD, format the drive to be able to be read by Windows, and you're done.

Unless you're planning to use the HDD as a boot drive, you don't need to reinstall Windows or do anything else.

Windows is on your ssd, no need to change that.
Open up the laptop and installing a HDD is simple.
Look for a youtube video on for the y520 to see how it opens up.
Then after booting windows you need to get into storage services to give the hdd a letter name and format it for use.

Thanks for your reply. yeah istall is about as simple as it gets, apparently the hardest part is finding the bracket for the drive, which I already have. your last sentence is exactly what I was looking for. seems simple and easy. Should be able to do this very easily. thank you
