[SOLVED] Install Win 10/11 from Ext HDD or USB etc?

Hello

Can you install Win 10 or 11 from an External HDD on a new build with no OS?

If you try a USB – does it have to be something special or just any old thing?


Is there any differences in what you have to do for the two different versions of Windows?


Do you have to do more than just dump the Win installer on them?

If you could point me to a good guide and any tips would be great too

Simplest way is any USB stick of at least 8 gb capacity.

Get Microsoft's "Media Creation Tool" and follow the prompts.

Connect only 1 drive; boot from the stick via the boot menu.

Some folks deliberately disconnect from the Internet before starting.

Cross fingers.
