Hello,
I was trying to remove my Win7 and install Win10 on my computer,
But when I try to install windows 10, while selecting the partion it shows 'cannot install on this disk because GPT ....'
I already have ubuntu installed on the disk so I dont want to lose it.
How can I install Win10 on the same partition without losing anything? I already had windows 7 installed on the same drive so why is win10 complaining now?

PS: I have UEFI motherboard and Ubuntu and Win7 was both installed on GPT only

Solution
What's the precise message?
If it's this: "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
Then you're installing in legacy mode (not UEFI).

Boot from USB or DVD in UEFI mode and install then.

Yes the message is exactly "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
Okay I'll try to do as you've instructed and post an update

I'm booting in UEFI mode now, but I can't find my USB drive listed in boot devices..

Yes I made the USB using rufus(with correct UEFI options). But still it wasn't working; When I selected the USB in the boot options, then it simply shows motherboard splash screen and proceeds to the normal OS selection page as if nothing happened.

Hello, I have solved this problem..
I got another Win10 ISO from my friend and then made a UEFI GPT format USB using Rufus.
And then booted using the USB in UEFI mode... Worked like a charm!

Thankyou!
