Install Windows 7 with only the product key?

I bought a new motherboard and plan to install it tonight. I have been informed that I can contact Microsoft and reactivate the product key for a single motherboard. However, I do not have the actual Windows 7 disc. How will I go about activating Windows 7 on the new motherboard?
