Installation problem with sims deluxe

im trying to install the game and it keeps topping and saying "an instalation support file could not be installed. incorrect function" ????????????

Is it a brand new game just out of the box? or is it a copy of the game from a friend? If it is a new game then take it back and get another or contact the company and explain this problem to them.

If it is a copy from one of your friends then it is a copy write that is preventing you from installing it.
