I just recently got a 760, and I swapped it out with my old card. Thing is, when I turn the PC on, it does one of 2 things. 1. It begins to turn on and off until 2. It boots up without beeps or posts. I'm having a hard time with this as I was able to use it for about 10 hours just yesterday. I've tried resetting the BIOS settings to factory default. I've also uninstalled all of my old card's drivers and installed the new ones (when it was working yesterday). It boots up successfully only sometimes, and when it does it works flawlessly. I have a hard time believing this is hardware related because it was able to work perfectly fine for 10 straight hours.

I got mine from canada comptuers haha. But all in all the gateway motherboard is just not compatible for upgrade it seems. Very disappointing, and it seems to have busted my motherboard too since it refuses to post beep at all now. I've returned the card and decided that I will just be saving up and building a new computer. Thanks everyone for your recommendations and help.

well you can just get a m-atx motherboard and a good new up to date chip for it and a copy of windows some nice memory [if the memory that you all ready got will work just reuse it ] and put it in with what you got ... re use the hd dvd drive you got a good psu .... if you can see were i'm going with this? reuse what you can and just buy what you need .. my old hp got a msi board in it do to this issue you got... or just build one up from scratch.. and then your safe

Yeah the cpu and mobo need to be replaced for sure, as the cpu is 1156 and I can't find any 1156 motherboards in a fair price range at my CC. GPU is also outdated so I'd need to upgrade that for sure. I'll be getting a psu just to play it safe. I'll be re-using the memory, the HDD, the dvd drives, and of course all the other components (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) to save a lot of money. I'll make sure to not make the same mistake twice :).
