installed new cpu I5 3470 from i3 2120 and when i boot pc monitor wont start

bios is for ivy bridge ive installed it when i had a sandy bridge cpu on
funny thing is if i install back i3 it works with the current ivy bios but not my i5
when i boot pc turns on for 10-15 secs then restarts but no signal to monitor
mb is foxcon h61m-s
8gb ram
win 10
and the new i5
any ideas what to do help?

Put the old CPU back in and flash the BIOS. It may need a BIOS update to support the I5

Either a BIOS update doesnt support the I5, or it's dead

its a used cpu, this is the second one i bought, i had the same issue w a different i5 but this is the second one i get but its used

Well like we said the I5 maybe dead. Not much we, or you can do about it

List motherboard and both cpu's.

Check cpu socket for bent pins.
If you were not careful with cpu replacement, you may have bent some of them.

Are you running BIOS version C52F1P01 or later?

You may need to update BIOS of your board before swapping cpus from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge.
Initial BIOS version of this board doesn't support Ivy Bridge.

first thought that is that the mobo bios wasn't up to date, 60 series mobo's would only support 3 series cpu's with newer bioses.

when i first installed the cpu i had the current bios and it still didnt work meanwhile my i3 was running at my latest ivy bridge bios, i gave it a few installaton tries and reseted the cmos nothing works w i5

Can't find specific info on that board, but most likely you need to update BIOS (with your i3 in) in order for the board to be able to recognize i5. According to some third party websites, you need version C52F1P01 (with date 07/24/2012) to run new CPU.

so your assuming the issue with my PC nonstop beeping with i3 and with I5 giving no display signal was coz i changed the RAM to a second slot booted up my rig?
