Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased new memory
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/cM...4gb-4-x-16gb-ddr4-2666-memory-hx426c13pb3k464

I keep getting games crashing due to memory issues. I ran memory test to see if there was issue with ram and no errors showed.

Examples

BSOD
Stop code: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Failed Boots
File: \windows\system32\drivers\megarsr.sys (prevents me from booting windows get blue screen stating window/device needs to be repaired)
File: \windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (prevents me from booting windows get blue screen stating window/device needs to be repaired)

With 4 sticks installed the windows will not longer boot and just post errors like the ones listed in failed boots. But the pc works flawless with 3 sticks at 48 gigs.

Current setup
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming K5

After further investigation i discovered the motherboard shows this info listed about the motherboard under specs on this motherboards website.

  1. 4 x DDR4 DIMM sockets supporting up to 64 GB of system memory
    * Due to a Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than the size of the physical memory installed.
  2. Dual channel memory architecture
  3. Support for DDR4 3866(O.C.) / 3800(O.C.) / 3733(O.C.) / 3666(O.C.) / 3600(O.C.) / 3466(O.C.) / 3400(O.C.) / 3333(O.C.) / 3300(O.C.) / 3200(O.C.) / 3000(O.C.) / 2800(O.C.) / 2666(O.C.) / 2400 / 2133 MHz memory modules
  4. Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules (operate in non-ECC mode)
  5. Support for non-ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8/1Rx16 memory modules
  6. Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

Looks like this motherboard does not support 4x16. Can anyone recommend a motherboard thats compatible ? pcpartpicker lists my current motherboard as compatible when it doesn't seem to be. Unless im wrong and its another underlying issue. Any help is much appreciated.

Solution
Wasn't sure if I could overclock it that high. I thought the issue was the limit on gig per stick unless i read that wrong.

Your CPU is rated at 2133/2400 for the RAM speed. You could probably go to 2600 using only 2 sticks in Dual Channel but since you're using 4 the memory controller is being under more stress.

Try 2400MHz with the 4 sticks and see if you keep having the issues.
