Installed only command line Linux Debian by MISTAKE

Hello guys!

I have here a nice compaq 6710b from HP that I wanted to recycle with Linux to give it some speed. I managed to install Debian on it, but the problem is that I screwed the installation and Debian is installed in command line ONLY, no graphical interface.

I tried to install other Linux distros but the computer won't boot from usb because the bios is way too old. (I installed Debian from windows 7)

Is there any way I can add the Debian graphical interface from the command line? Or boot from usb in some way? I tried making a bootable CD but i'm not quite sure of how to do it.....

in the command line, type "startx" (no quotes) as root and see if it loads a GUI.

If you have access to a Windows PC, you can use an application called Rufus to create a bootable USB as long as you have the ISO file.

it is an old bios... whatever boot order I do, it still boots to the linux...

I got it! I had to burn Plop boot manager on a CD, plug the usb with some OS on it in the computer and then boot from the CD. Then I would be able to boot from USB!
