Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of building my new computer, and it would really be awesome if i didn't have to shell out $140 bucks for a copy of windows 8.1 pro 64-bit, since i'm currently running it on my laptop. is there any way to get this working copy from my laptop onto a media which I can use to boot my new PC from scratch, or is that impossible and will I just have to bit the bullet and buy an OEM DVD?

Thanks in advance for all the help/responses.

Uninstall W8 from your Laptop, but 1st make sure you have a hard copy of the Product Key. If you have an Installation disk for W8 clean install it on your new machine and try to activate by immediately performing Refresh your PC after installation. If you don't have a disk, d'load the ISO from here
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=262204
and create one. (You'll need you Product Key) If activation fails, (probable) use the telephone method to activate. Per the licence you will have to install another OS on to your Laptop...But mebbe no-one will notice if you revert it back to your last OS...
