My brother inherited a Gateway AIO desktop with a terrible AMD Athlon II processor. We did the research and bought a black series processor that fit the slot, however the original processor consumes 45w while the new processor consumes 125w. The power brick that came with the unit is a 135w model. I'm thinking that we should be looking for a 220w to 375w adapter. (135 - 45 = 90 + 125 = 215) (125 / 45 = 2.7 * 125 = 375). The issue is that the gateway plug is a proprietary connection. I suggested looking for models in the ZX line that had better hardware and seeing if they came with a better power adapter. The only other thing I can think (only after excessive wire and electricity research) of is researching the type of wire, buying a different brand adapter, and splicing the wires together. Suggestions? Thanks.
