Installing drivers and utilities

I recently built a new box. I went with all the default BIOS settings except enabling RAID 0 on two SSD drives. I installed Win8 and 8.1. Everything seems to be working fine.

So I'm hesitant to start installing crufty old drivers and utilites off CDs that came with the various components. I don't want a bunch of crap cluttering up my computer. And I don't want to fix something that's not broken. I'm inclined to be content with running Windows Update (unless a problem manifests itself.)

Am I missing something?

Unless you install the drivers your computer will not run well

do it . They are there for a reason .
You can run updates from device manager later if you wish , but there may not be any for the board drivers at least

I installed all the drivers that were not reported as older than my existing drivers. Apperently Win8 updates some device drivers as part of Windows Update (?). I also installed several utilities which I may or may not use. Thanks!
