installing gtx 1070ti with 980ti

Right now i have dual gtx 980ti, i bought 1070ti for mining i would like to run the 3 gpus together for mining ( not in sli ) just each card to mine solo

but when i put 1070ti and 980ti and installed the driver for 1070ti it only read the 980ti but when i changed sockets and tried 1 gtx 1070ti and 980ti when i load windows and go to my desktop home page waits like 1 min then freeze and doesnt work,

is it possible to use 2x 980ti and 1x 1070ti separated no sli or anything just to let them mine

if it sould work, what am i doing wrong ?

GPU 2x 980ti and 1x 1070ti
CPU- i7 3960x oc( 4.7ghz)
Motherboard- asus rampage iv latest bios
RAM- 4x8gb 2400mhz ram corsair platinum
PSU- Evga Supernova 1500
Cooling- custom cooling for cpu
Monitor- Asus rog swift gsync 144hz

Basically, installing different card generations from the same manufacture would mostly trigger the issues of driver incompatibilities

is there any fix for that would allow me to use both cards at the same time not in sli but normal ?

Should be possible, check in the bios for the pci-e slot config, you might need to make sure all 3 slots are on 8x or x4, sometimes it will disable slots if one is on x16.
