Installing hard drive in motherboard

Everthing else being the same, Probably not. I need to know what operating system you are using, did you change the cpu and ram also? Most likely, all you have to do is install the new motherboard drivers and go. There is a chance you may need to reregister your M$ os online or by phone. Let me know how this works.
:)

Hi mrmonsoon, the OS is Win98se I'm not using my old cpu and memory, the new motherboard only supports DDR memory. The cpu is Pentium 4 2.8GHz. I want use my same HD.

You COULD use your existing OS installation, but I wouldn't recommend it. You won't get the performance out of your system that you should. Plus, if you are planning on using more that 512MB RAM, forget using Win98SE.

I would recommend you back up all your important data, and do a clean install of either 2000 Pro or XP Pro. Also make sure to install all the latest mobo/chipset/AGP drivers from you mobo manufacturers website.

Good Luck.

Spec:
Intel P4 2.4B
MSI 645E Max-U Mobo

R9600XT 128MB
SB Live 5.1
WD 60GB
Maxtor 120GB
LG DVD+-R/RW
WIN2K PRO SP4

98SE? And you want a clean instal? Boot off the CD to a command prompt, use fdisk to erase the old partition and make a new one, reboot from CD to command prompt again, and use Format from the Win98 directory on the CD to format the drive. Then type "settup".

Nope, XP allows you to do your drive options from inside settup.
