Hello,
I'm having some trouble about adding a second hdd in the dvd slot with a caddy.
I have two new caddys 9.5mm height, and two good and tested laptop 2.5in hdds (both WD blue 1TB)
On this laptop, lenovo V310 it's not appearing to be working corectly. I mean i install the caddy and it won't boot, stuck with lenovo logo on screen.
With the other HDD it boots but gets stuck at loading windows 10.
Without caddy works perfectly.
It works perfectly with it's original DVD drive. (also the drive is working, tested)
I tried hotswapping after windows was booted, and just pushed the caddy in the slot while running (sata is hotswappable). For both hdd i've tested windows reacts with connecting sound, and even opens the contents of hdds but lags a lot and cant properly acces the drive to say it's functional, but in disk management it fails to load any info getting stuck at initializing virtual devices.
Acts like bad hdd, but the thing is i've tested both hdd's on another computer (desktop with hotswap tray) and they work perfectly, snappy, properly recognized also they are relativly new and known in working condition (removed from other laptops when upgraded with ssd, one of the hdd's was belonging to this exact laptop i'm trying to install the hdd caddy).
Had another new caddy (same model, bought together) and tested both hdd's with similar results on the laptop - no boot/stuck at powering up.
Am I missing something? Is that sata port for DVD different than a normal SATA? Does that DVD sata port in a laptop provide sufficient power for dvd drive but not a laptop 2.5in hdd? Are these caddies i have faulty or incompatible (tested two of them brand new)? Any setting to setup? (it's ordinary SATA caddie.. what to set? maybe in Bios? idk)
I have/had lots of laptops with hdd caddies and worked very fine.. what gives for this lenovo v310?
Should i try another brand of caddy?
