Installing new games with Punkbuster.

Do I need to choose to install Punkbuster when new games ask for it but already have it installed?

Also do games reinstall things like Microsoft Visual C++ and Direct X again or does it just check if they're present and up to date?

I would say No, you don't need to reinstall already existing additional software. Unless the version being installed is newer than the one you have. (would likely work anyway)

As for visual C and directX, yes, games check if it is installed and install it if needed. (Since microsoft NEVER ships whole directX with windows, only parts of it, this includes windows10)

If I deselect punkbuster the game I'm about to install warns me about needing punkbuster to play online. Maybe it checks to see whether that is installed first as well if you select it?

You'll be fine. It's like when games try to install Direct X or Redist even though you have all you need installed from previous games. If you wanted to, you could check it on just to be sure but again, if it's already on your computer you shouldn't run into any issues =)
