Question Installing new PSU - Worked for a second then powered off

I'm updating my PSU after hooking it up it worked for a few seconds then powered off and now won't work. I put the old one back in and still nothing works. Could this new one have shorted my system and killed my MB?

CPU: i9-9900k
Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC ATX LGA1151
Ram: 32GB
SSD/HDD: SSD
GPU: RTX2070 Super
PSU: EVGA 850 (Corsair HX1000i - new one trying to install)
Chassis: ATX
OS: WIN10

Did you use the modular cables that came with the new PSU?

Yes I did. I've also unplugged everything and plugged them all back in to ensure that they are all actually plugged in. When I put the old one back in I switched back to the cables that were on it and now the old one isn't working either. This is why I'm thinking that my MB may have shorted but not 100% sure.
