Installing Steam games via Local game files/Offline

🙁 well the topic says it all, so is it even possible to install a game (Purchased through steam) with local files that I've downloaded via torrent/a pirated installation local files from a friend :I (due to my countrys ISP data cap)
Plus I know that theres a feature called steam backup but I need to know if I could install a game which ofcourse isnt downloaded from the steam client instead of downloading it again

Edit: the game is PURCHASED from steam but i need to install the game without downloading the whole thing because of my isp data cap

oh no what i meant was, can i install the game with the local files that i've borrowed from a friend it might be downloaded from a torrent site or it could be from another provider ( Uplay, GOG)

If you want to install a steam game you PURCHASED all you should need to do is copy/paste the steam game folder from his to yours. When you double click the game in steam it will see the files and install. Or use a steam backup. The DRM is in your steam account not the files.

If you don't own it or are not online it won't install it and you can't play it. I dont know why you are bringing up torrents and pirating. That won't work and it would use data.

I'm in a good mood; I don't condone pirating but you did buy the game. In answer to your question I doubt that it will work

well where i live the data cap package that they provide totally sucks but you could get the files for cheap which of couse helps than downloading the game from the start via steam client and end up using all my limited capacity, dunno why though and yep i dont approve of those who dont support the developers plus i didnt mention it right on the post that i published on what i was looking for, which ended up in a misunderstanding

Thats fair enough mate, sorry about that. I guess you could just try it and see if it works? My guess would be it wouldn't.
