So long story short, i installed a graphics card and blew my MB. Got new mb and installed it, but because of Microsoft license i had to get new windows. So i got windows 10, had 7 before. 7 was on my SSD , which i couldn't boot to because of the license issue i guess, and i didnt want to fresh install and clear all my programs, games, files etc, so i installed windows 10 on another HDD.

Now i am up and running windows 10 on the hdd, but i cant boot my computer with the windows 7 ssd installed, or it attempts to boot to it, no matter how i set the boot order in the bios. So i have to boot with only the windows 10 hdd, then hot plug the ssd.

Is it possible for me, now that im able to boot up, to reinstall windows 10 onto the ssd over the windows 7? I would obviously much rather have the ssd as my boot/OS drive.

If i cant, how would i go about removing windows from the ssd so i can at least leave it installed in pc, is it as simple as deleting the windows folder?

Thanks for any help, im fairly clueless but know enough to get my self in trouble pretty often!

You will have to do a clean install. This is very important lesson for you I guess because you should have all your programs stored on a different drive than your C: drive. I have two SSDs, one real small 128 gb SSD just for my C: and another 256 gb SSD as my D: drive that holds all of my programs. Of course I keep all of my data on other physical hard drives and in the cloud, but you really need to consider your options for the future.

Just do a clean install.

That's the problem I do t want to wipe the drive. I live in an area with no wired Internet, so I'm on a data restricted wifi signal. To re download and install everything on that ssd after wiping it and reinstalling Windows would be almost impossible.

I was hoping there was a way to just upgrade that 7 to my new Windows 10

When I started, I tried to select the option to upgrade the ssd while booting from the Windows DVD, but it would prompt me to re boot to the ssd , then upgrade from the disc, but attempting to boot to the ssd with Windows 7 on the new mother board would just blues screen me everytime.
