Hey everyone,
I'm just about to build my own PC and I'm going to be installing Windows 8.1. Microsoft isn't being cooperative and I won't be receiving my installation disks in the mail for quite some time, but I do have the option to download the OS.
What I want to do is to be able to boot my new computer from a USB thumb drive with the ISO file on it to install Windows 8.1. That said, from the research I've been able to do, I'm a little confused. Supposedly the 64 bit Windows 8.1 file is over 4 GB which means I can't put it on a FAT32 formatted USB drive. But if I format the USB drive as NTFS, a UEFI BIOS won't be able to boot from the USB drive.
I've tried looking around but I can't actually seem to find anyone else addressing this issue. How will I be able to install Windows 8.1 64 bit from a USB drive? Or am I just going to have to wait for the disks to come in the mail from microsoft?
I appreciate your help!
