Hello guys, i am Pieter and i am going to build my first gaming pc. But when it comes to installing Windows i am a little bit confused and i don't know what to do. In a video of Paul's Hardware i saw that he used the Windows Media Tool to compress his Windows into an ISO-file and put it on a 4 GB USB-stick. He later plugged it into his pc and used the ISO-file and installed it as Windows but he had like a watermark in the right-bottom corner which said something like: windows not activated. But my question is: Do you really need a activation key to use Windows properly or should i immediately buy one and use it right away. Also is G2A a safe place to buy an activation key for Windows because Ed from Techsource is constantly talking about it.

(Sorry for my bad English)

Thank you for your answers.

Solution
As far as going from G2A, it's almost a gamble. I would bite the bullet and grab one from PCPartPicker.com as it is $89. But you have 30 days to get a key.

False, you can load the compressed ISO on a 4GB USB stick as mentioned here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/?d2784474-fdb0-4e9d-9e47-5e88c0e053ec=True

A blank USB flash drive or DVD (and DVD burner) with at least 4 GB of space if you want to create media. We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD, because any content on it will be deleted.

Thank you for your solution. Now my question is finally answered
