Instead of buying a qualiity Evga or Seasonic power supply what if I buy from a semi decent psu brand like thermaltake and buy a cheap 750w one. I’m not talking * generic chinese ones yknow. Bc even if they are lying the extra watts should make up for it and psus exploding are very rare

Solution
More watts doesn’t matter. Usually, it’s not insufficient power that causes issues. It’s unstable voltages, lack of protections, or short lifespan due to poor build quality. Also things like noise, efficiency, connectors, warranty, etc.

Why are you looking at 600W PSUs? What are your full system specs?
It’s likely a 450w PSU would be fine for your system.

Look for a Corsair CX or CXM grey label. They are good power supplies, usually cheap in Australia.

That is not how it works. Those low end psu's are simply lying about their max wattage and can not even get close to what they advertise. Psu's exploding is rare, but them giving out and taking the system with them is really common for low end ones.

DO NOT skip on the psu it's what gives your pc life and the ammount of systems that get fried by a cheap one is really high.

Can you specify which 'cheap Thermaltake 750w' you have in mind? If you mean the recent Smart Pro or a similar modern series, they are decent enough for a typical Gaming build, however, what do you plan to pair them with is the main concern (specs)?

Buying a cheap PSU is asking for trouble and even in some cases risking the entire rig, if not worse. Why would anyone do such thing for a measly $20 difference between a great quality PSU and a crap one is beyond me. If you are really on a budget, it is better to buy a slightly slower CPU or cheaper mobo to save money than getting a crappy PSU.

something like this, i think itd be fine i have a system that reccomends 600w but people have been doing it on 500w. so i think a cheap 700w would be neat. Alot cheaper than evga 600ws

in australia its like a $50 difference :/ +garbage postage so thats why im cheaping out rn

Yeah NewEgg + Australia is horrid with the postage/duty handling costs... Coming from a fellow Aussie.

If it has to be from Newegg i'd take this over that TT Supply around the same price > https://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438014&ignorebbr=1.

But if you can shop elsewhere, check out PCCaseGear.com (Australian store), something like this would be a better choice > https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40400/silverstone-essential-et550-g-gold-550w-power-supply

I didnt know pc case gear had better postage so i never really looked at them, just did and found another be quiet 600w for $69 + only $15 postage :)
