Upon starting various applications I hit a snag in Windows XP SP2 (all
patches up to date) with the following error:
Insufficient system resources exists to complete the requested service.
This is regardless of which application I try to launch at this point.
After closing down a few applications, I can manage to launch another
new one, without the aforementioned error message.
When this happens, I am nowhere near my limit of paging file or
physical RAM usage.
I'm running a following system:
- Atlon 64 3400+ 2.2GHz
- 2 x 512 MB PC3200 RAM
- 2 x 160 GB of HD (plenty of space left on all partitions)
- Dedicated AGP and Sound cards (no on-board stuff enabled)
- TDS-3 Antitrojan
- NOD32 Antivirus
I have tried the following fixes:
- Let windows manage paging file size
- Grow paging file size manually
- Make two paging files on separate partitions
- Increase system cache size to large
- Increase Icon, File and system cache
- Disable Kernel dump (use small memory dump)
- Disable running background processes
- many others suggested here.
I have checked my system for trojans, virii, scumware, adware
and malware. There is none (I run over 20 different scanners,
including the best at, av, as, etc.).
Is there a fix for this, other than not running too many applications
at the same time?
I though this problem was supposed to be fixed in sp2?
