Let's say i have two choices to buy a laptop from with about the same performance with the only difference that 1 has an integrated gpu while the other a dedicated gpu.. Which one should i pick? I'm basically asking whether to choose Ryzen 5 with Vega 8 graphics or Core i5-8250U + MX 130 / MX 150 (2 GB GDDR5). i know they are not exactly identical but their prices are also different. Ryzen is somewhat cheaper.

Solution
Which Ryzen 5 CPU exactly?

For example a Ryzen 5-2500U is about the same in performance as an i5-8250U with both using between 15w and 25w of power. The Ryzen is a little faster, but hardly worth mentioning. See comparison below.

On the other hand the MX 150 has about 25% more GPU performance than the Vega 8 on the same Ryzen 5-2500U.

For simplicity sake and improved battery run-time length, I might go with the Ryzen. If you plan on playing games, then go with the I5 with MX 150

Solution
It would be helpful to know what games you wish to play on this laptop. The MX130/MX150 are very low-end GPUs. While they'll perform better than integrated graphics, they're not powerful enough to run most modern games at acceptable framerates unless you drop to low settings.

Try selecting the games you're interested in (or similar games/year) on Notebookcheck's laptop game list. That's a database of the FPS they've measured in various games at different settings on all the laptops they've reviewed.

Here's the comparison limited to the 3 GPUs you've listed.

Thanks to all
I found all the answers to be helpful
I actually asked this Q on the behalf of my friend who wanted the best in class laptop in budget and i told him to buy the Acer aspire 5.
However because of financial problems, he decided to go for the model with ddr5 MX 130, and DOS but 1920*1080 display.
No, this laptop is not intended for high end gaming, but thanks for including the comparisons.
If it came with a built in SSD, that would've been icing on the cake.
