Intei i7 4790k worth it?

I am going to upgrade my Media/Light Gaming Rig to a overclocking/gaming rig. I already have a spare R9 290x that I can grab from my work rig so I am just wondering if it would be a good idea to put in a Intel i7 4790k and a Gigabyte SOC motherboard and maybe add a Corsair H100i.

if you live near a microcenter they have great deals on the 4770k with bundles and good discounts but the 4790k is better and a better overclocker but if its just gaming the 4770k is a beast

The 4790k is pre overclocked and you'd only be able to get 0.5 GHz max. Really if you're just gaming, go for i5 4690K and save heaps.

How much would I get out of it if I use the CoolerMaster Nepton 280L instead of the Corsair H100i? Or the Noctua NH-D15? I have low profile Ripjaw 1866mhz ram so I could use that

Every overclock is different. Nobody can guess at how fast a particular chip will go.
